The Private Property project deals with the agrarian revolution in Central and Eastern Europe on the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Traditional agriculture was modernized and rich landowners took the land from peasants in order to fence them and turn into grazing fields for sheep. The process made a big impact on the following development if the cities and their industrialization.
Today, the process of fencing has quite a different meaning. Presently, we fence neighborhoods, buildings, even dumpsters in a desperate attempt to control the public space. As a result, such a process often leads to ousting the social life in the course of a radical segregation – the division between better ones and worse ones. Private property is a polemic work acting on many levels, alluding to issues of fencing and controlling the public space.
